Love Your Neighbor as Yourself

וְאָֽהַבְתָּ֥ לְרֵעֲךָ֖ כָּמ֑וֹךָ

V’ahavtah l’rei’achah kamocha

“to love your neighbor as yourself"

— Leviticus 19:18

Making connections and fostering genuine relationships between TBZ members is the first line of action when creating a social network that supports its members.  Our volunteers make outreach calls to members during the high holidays, strive to make special events accessible to all members, and, during the pandemic, helped sign-up our seniors for the COVID-19 vaccine. Many of these connections have resulted in lasting friendships.

Creating a social network can help to identify members in need and find ways in which the Hesed Community can support them. As a community, we have helped with shopping, provided meals and rides, and even done simple acts like dropping in for a chat or picking up the phone. Big or small, all acts of Hesed help to build a strong community based on mutual caring and connection between our members.

The practice of Hesed is something we do every day. It is a natural expression of spirit that makes all our lives more beautiful.

If you would like to get more involved in Hesed@TBZ, have any questions or are in need, please reach out to hesed@TBZBrookline.org.
