Join TBZ in celebrating the 10th Annual Women’s Retreat!
This year’s theme is
Shmita: A Year of Radical Rest and Self Care
Join TBZ members who experience the world as women to gather to appreciate those who made this retreat happen in years past, learn about the practice of Shmita (year of release), and how to use it for practicing radical rest and self-care. Because of safety, our offerings will be scaled down, but still as impactful.
Join us for:
• Davenning and Singing with Rav Claudia (Multi-Access)
• Yoga with Kathy Kates
• Writing as a Self Care Practice with Jordan Namerow (In-Person, with prompts for at-home participation)
• A Sanctuary in Any Moment” Nishmat Hayyim Meditation led by Bobbi Isberg (MultiAccess): How can mindfulness practice build a portable sanctuary, available through mundane and challenging moments, as we move through our daily experience? Join us for chant, silent meditation with instruction, teaching and discussion exploring mindfulness teachings in Torah and Jewish practice.
• Featured Speaker: Kohenet Keshira haLev Fife: Shmita for Radical Rest and Self Care
“Shmita is the year of release, restore and return, which arrives every seventh year. A third of the way into our current shmita year, it’s a great time to reflect on whether we’ve engaged the shmita in meaningful ways. Even if you haven’t done a thing, it’s not too late!”
7-8:30pm (On Zoom) In the evening, join us for an intimate performance of the play Conflict Zone. Conflict Zone is an original one-woman play by Israeli-American artist Leahy Ardon (Ish-Shalom). The show follows the journey of a young Jewish immigrant to the US, as she battles with an eating disorder. Conflict Zone explores the connections between internal and external war, examining how the protagonist’s Jewish-Israeli identity plays a role in her fight for recovery.
