Younited (Givat Haviva International School) is an English-speaking international boarding high school in Israel with students from over 25 countries and equal numbers of Jews and Arabs from Israel. At Younited, students who may have been raised to view the other as a threat become friends and part of a respectful community that confronts reality head on, where they learn to embrace differences, accept compromises, and truly work together.
Nurit Gery – Managing Director and Co-Founder of Younited
Nurit is a social entrepreneur who decided to move from a successful career in the commercial world to the nonprofit sector. Younited (formerly GHIS) was envisaged in 2017 and, under Nurit’s leadership and vision, only a year later it opened with a full cohort of local and international students and staff, ready to compete in quality with international schools worldwide. Younited is an English-speaking international boarding high school in Israel with students from over 25 countries and equal numbers of Jews and Arabs from Israel. They live together (an Arab, a Jew, and an international student share a room) and learn together an IB curriculum enriched with leadership and conflict resolution training.
At Younited, students who may have been raised to view the other as a threat become friends and part of a respectful community that confronts reality head on, where they learn to embrace differences, accept compromises, and truly work together. In these seemingly hopeless times, Younited is a campus of hope creating future leaders with a new understanding of the world and a built-in global network to carry this vision forward.
Prior to establishing Younited, Nurit worked for 20 years at the pharmaceutical giant, GSK, where she was a Business Unit Director. Nurit has an MBA from the University of California at San Francisco and a BA in Biology from the Technion, Israel.
