Festival morning prayers at TBZ follow much the same pattern as Shabbat, though they do not begin with Torah study. Instead, they include the special Hallel – Psalms of Praise – prayer. We follow the ancient tradition of circling the sanctuary seven times as we recite it, singing the verses together.
We celebrate each of the major festivals – Pesach, Shavuot, and Sukkot – in its time, including a special all-night tikkun (learn-in) for Shavuot and congregating in the Temple’s sukkah in the fall.
This prayer practice helps us set our internal clocks to a Jewish rhythm too and so adds a new and meaningful dimension to all our lives.
