Assistant Rabbi, Director of Community Engagement
Rav Leah supports Rav Claudia in leading services, pastoral care, and life-cycle events. Her main portfolio is community engagement; she leads our efforts in engaging new and seasoned members, in order to help all members find their place in the community and strengthen TBZ. She joined TBZ’s spiritual leadership as a Rabbinic intern in August 2023 and finished rabbinical school at Hebrew College in 2024. Prior to rabbinical school, Leah worked as an actor, a health administrator, and a Jewish educator in the Boston area. She is a registered yoga teacher and has taught vinyasa and restorative yoga to children and adults of all ages, in both English and Hebrew. Leah is passionate about stories, embodied spirituality, and pastoral care. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, seeing live music and theater, baking bread, and drumming on her darbuka. In addition to interning at TBZ, Leah’s rabbinic experience includes leading prayer with Nava Tehila in Jerusalem, serving the Temple Sinai community as a rabbinic intern and family educator, working as a chaplain intern at BIDMC, and supporting the Miller Center’s PsalmSeason project. Along with her partner Yoni Battat, Leah has been a part of the TBZ community for many years and is thrilled to serve as assistant rabbi.
